Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 21, 2026
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how ApplySharp ("ApplySharp," "we," "us," or "our"), operated at applysharp.net, collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you visit the site, create an account, build a resume or cover letter profile, or purchase digital template packages.
By using ApplySharp, you agree to this Policy together with our Terms and Refund Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Scope
This Policy covers information processed in connection with:
- Browsing marketing pages, templates, and help content
- Account registration, sign-in, and session management
- Resume and cover letter profile data you enter or upload (including optional headshots and agency branding)
- Checkout, payment confirmation, ownership records, and digital downloads
- Partner or agency portal features, where those features are enabled for your account
It does not control the privacy practices of third-party sites you reach through outbound links, employers you send materials to, or payment networks beyond what we describe for Stripe below.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Account and identity
When you register or sign in, we collect your email address and authentication credentials (or tokens) needed to maintain your session. We may also store a display name derived from your profile or email.
3.2 Resume and cover letter content
You control what you put in your profile. That may include name, contact details, location, professional summary, work history, education, skills, references, style preferences, headshot images, and related text you paste or type. This content is stored so you can edit it, preview templates, and generate PDF downloads.
Treat resume content as sensitive personal data you choose to provide. Do not upload information you are not authorized to share, and do not include government ID numbers, financial account numbers, or health data unless you accept the risk of storing it in a career-document tool.
3.3 Payments and orders
Paid purchases are processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation details needed to fulfill your order, such as email, Stripe checkout or customer identifiers, purchase type, template slug, amounts, currency, and timestamps. We do not store full card numbers on ApplySharp servers. Card data is handled by Stripe under Stripe's own terms and privacy notice.
3.4 Technical and usage data
Like most websites, we automatically receive technical information when you visit, including IP address, browser type, device characteristics, approximate location derived from IP, referring URL, pages viewed, and timestamps. Hosting and security providers may log similar data to operate and protect the service.
3.5 Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for essential functions such as authentication, session security, preference flags (for example, dismissing a cookie notice), and fraud prevention. Some partners (including payment and hosting providers) may set their own cookies when their services load.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in, checkout, or downloads from working.
4. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the resume builder and catalog
- Authenticate users and secure accounts
- Store and render your profile across templates and PDF exports
- Process payments, grant template ownership, issue download links, and prevent abuse
- Communicate about transactions, account issues, policy updates, or service notices
- Diagnose errors, monitor performance, and protect against fraud, spam, and misuse
- Comply with law and enforce our Terms and Refund Policy
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your resume content to train public generative AI models for unrelated third parties.
5. Legal bases (where applicable)
Depending on where you live, we may rely on one or more of the following grounds to process personal data: performance of a contract (providing the service you request), legitimate interests (securing the site, preventing fraud, improving reliability), consent (where required for optional cookies or communications), and legal obligation (tax, accounting, or lawful requests).
6. Sharing and processors
We share information only as needed to run ApplySharp, including with:
- Stripe for payment processing and fraud controls
- Database, auth, and storage providers (currently including Supabase infrastructure) to store accounts, profiles, order records, and uploaded assets
- Hosting and CDN providers that serve the website and static assets
- Professional advisers or authorities when reasonably necessary for legal, tax, or compliance reasons
- A successor entity if ApplySharp is involved in a merger, sale, or reorganization, subject to this Policy or equivalent protections
Service providers are instructed to process personal data for our purposes and not for their own unrelated marketing. We may also disclose information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is required to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the service.
7. Retention
We retain account and profile data while your account remains active and for a reasonable period afterward if needed for backups, dispute resolution, abuse prevention, or legal compliance. Order and payment records are kept as long as needed for accounting, tax, and fraud prevention. Download links may be short-lived even when ownership records persist.
You may request deletion of your account and profile data as described below. Some residual records (for example, anonymized logs or completed payment receipts) may remain where retention is required or permitted by law.
8. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards appropriate to a small digital product business, including encrypted transport (HTTPS), access controls on production systems, and reliance on reputable infrastructure providers. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for the content you choose to store.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export certain personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, or to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You can often update resume profile fields directly in your account. Signed-in users can permanently delete their account from Account → Billing (type DELETE to confirm). You can also email privacy@applysharp.net from the address associated with your account. We may verify identity before acting on a request.
If you are in a jurisdiction that provides a right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, you may do so. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve the issue.
10. Children
ApplySharp is intended for adults seeking professional employment tools. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 (or the minimum age required in your region). If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
11. International processing
ApplySharp may process and store information in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. Those locations may have different data-protection rules than your home country. By using the service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations subject to this Policy.
12. Do not track and marketing
We do not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals in a uniform way because there is no common industry standard. We do not sell personal information, and we do not rent resume content lists to recruiters. Transactional messages about your account or purchases are not marketing opt-outs.
13. Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Material changes may also be highlighted on the site or sent to the email on your account where appropriate. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
14. Contact
Privacy questions and data requests: privacy@applysharp.net. General support: support@applysharp.net. Billing and refunds: refunds@applysharp.net. Please include enough detail for us to locate your account without asking you to resend sensitive payment card data.
